Studio blog March 2017

The laser cut sculpture is in progress and I am now fine-tuning matters of material thickness and the width of the lines.  How many lines and how much negative space can I have without compromising the physical intergrity of the piece.  My intention is for it to be strong and fairly rigid, so the steel plate from which it is cut, must have a degree of thickness.  I want this to look elegant as well, so it is a fine line (pardon the pun) between solid integrity but maybe too chunky or slender and elegant lines, but too flimsy.  Still a bit of work to do.  In the meantime, I have been back painting.

The inspiration for the sculptural work is now being ā€˜filled inā€.  and a suite of three small works in preparation for my exhibition at H Gallery, Bangkok, in July/August 2017.
